Bois Cheri – Plantation and Factory Overview
Located a few kilometers from Grand Bassin, Bois Chéri is a tea factory and a museum. Bois Chéri is the first tea plantation in Mauritius dates back to 1892.
During the visit, you will increase your knowledge about the different stages of production of the tea making process: from picking to packaging, withering, fermentation, drying and sieving. Bois Chéri produces a new range of flavored teas, green teas and herbal teas.

As part of the visit of Bois Cheri, you will be able to discover the below process and history:
- A guide will lead you through the factory where you will be amazed by the production process of the tea.
- You will uncover the old machines related to tea production, tea services from the 19th century, photos, tables and documents introducing the knowledge of several different infusions.
- Have a walk in the tea plantation and witness the great panoramic view of the south of the island whilst learning about the history, stories and tales of the Bois Chéri along with the importance of tea productions in Mauritius.
- Tea Tasting – Do not miss the chance to taste the different flavors of tea with the delicious biscuits at the chalet.
- It is highly recommended that you end your tour with a lunch. Dine in a serene setting at Le Bois Cheri Restaurant with an appetising 3-course lunch.
